Green Scene Eyewear Machine

If you went to Vision Expo this year in New York City you know how overwhelming it can be. This year was no exception as brands and companies were spread all over the massive conference center in new areas. The Galleria and Underground were combined (but, oddly not renamed) and placed in a newly reclaimed area in the Jacob Javits Center that was entered by way of a Pink Carpet and long hallway lined with Up-and-Comers at the venue. One such company caught the eye of Eyewear Fanatic because of the green deer head trophies gracing the walls and limes lining the shelves. Thinking they may be a "green company" we stopped to inquire how it could be done. Founded in 1997, Martin & Martin in Cologne Germany, as it turns out is not a "green" company but they do use natural materials like cotton in their design process (not to mention, lots of green in their marketing colors). They represent a growing group of German  made eyewear that employs that iconic "German Engineering" to the spring hinge system. They apply the natural purism of an artist at work with a masterpiece when designing the coloring and style to their frames. A small company with a big heart, the frames are simply stunning. This is one to watch!

Here, Kitty Kitty - Get Your Puma On for 2011

At the annual Vision Expo East in New York City last week, there were some surprises. Many changes have the "Ole' Recession of the Economy" wrought. So many companies lost contracts with their favorite designers and so many gained new ones (for presumably more money). One of the best changes was that Puma has now signed on with Charmant Eyewear. Eyewear Fanatic met up with the amazing Rosie from Charmant to get a glimpse of this fantastic collaboration and play with the Puma Bike.

"The Spring/Summer 2011 Sunwear Collection is a smooth integration of PUMA’s DNA and Charmant’s design excellence inspired by the PUMA legacy, the frames feature the use of light and high-tech materials fused together with sophisticated minimalist detailing to provide a sleek and aerodynamic style.
The combination of color, the metal-rubber frame, chic design, sport inspired decorative elements and the classic PUMA logo, provide a contemporary feel," says Charmant. We are going to expect great things from this wonderful brand in both sunglasses and eyewear. Puma is Red-Hot right now!

Just check out some of what we saw and tell me these are not Hot Kats!
